Serious Whimsy On San Diego Lawns
The colorful public sculpture of Niki de Saint Phalle Niki de Saint Phalle was a French-born, New York trained sculptor. Her works are famous for their primary colors and whimsical appearance. She moved to California in 1994 and her final residence was in San Diego. Let's take a walk around San Diego's famous Marina District to discover a few colorful sculptures. There are additional works by Niki in Balboa Park, and a little further afield at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, as well as a smattering in and around La Jolla.
